2010 at the Archives: A Year in Review

2010 was an eventful year for us at the University Archives and we would like to review our year with you.

See entries below for previous months.

Fire at the Archives

This was a traumatic month for the staff of the Archives as a fire broke out in the facility early in the morning of June 9th.  Fortunately for the University, its irreplaceable records were saved as a result of the activation of the automatic fire suppression system which prevented the fire from spreading to the areas housing the collection. Nevertheless a number of documents suffered water damage as a result of water used by the fire brigade to quench the flames in a section of the building which housed miscellaneous printed items and archival storage materials.  The building suffered structural damage and it was clear that the collection had to be relocated.
